BMU Hike Update

Bryan Municipal Utilities appears to be readying an expected increase in water rates…part of a multi-year rate plan adjustment, suggested in 2018. A study showed BMU should raise $750,000 per year to fund necessary capital improvements for the Water Department and that the then-current rate plan was not sufficient. In October 2018, the board approved rate changes for only the first year of a four-year plan. It calls for an increased monthly service charge of $8.25, from $7 dollars, for residential customers.
