The annual Day in the Park celebration will not have amusement rides or a car show this year, due to COVID-19. But thanks to the generosity of the Bryan community there will be fireworks. Funds raised from the two recent drive-in movie nights, along with other donations, have pushed the Bryan Area Chamber of Commerce fireworks fund over the $10,000 needed to put on the show. Day in the Park, held on Newdale Drive in Recreation Park in Bryan, was rescheduled from June 20 to Aug. 22 in hopes that restrictions on mass gatherings due to COVID-19 would be lifted or revised. With restrictions still in place, the ride company for Day in the Park canceled. So…no rides…but plenty of fireworks!
