A man is dead following a semi crash in Steuben County, near mile marker 151 on the Indiana Toll Road. Troopers respond to the scene, they find the big rig, rolled over in the center median…with the driver was trapped inside the cab…unconscious. Crews cut Stephen Downs of Colon out of the wreck. He was pronounced dead at the scene. So far, the preliminary investigation is leaning towards this scenario…the semi was traveling eastbound and ran off the edge for an unknown reason. Downs tried to correct, but loses control of the big rig. It then rolls over onto the driver’s side. The crash spills 1,000 gallons of milk and 100 gallons of fuel…onto the roadway. Cleanup from the spill and wreckage causes the east and westbound lanes of the toll road to be closed for nearly two hours. The crash remains under investigation.
