Chase, Shootout In Kendallville

A man is badly hurt…after a multi-county police chase ends in a shootout, in Kendallville. The police tries to stop a vehicle for reckless driving, near Harris and Olympia Court in Fort Wayne. The vehicle instead heads off…with the police in tow…on a high speed pursuit through northwest Allen County…then, up into Noble County. Officers used stop sticks to end the chase. Police believe a tire was struck and the chase ended about 40 minutes later, near East Waits Rd. and South Maple Street, just outside of Johnson Mobile Home Park in Kendallville. The suspect then opens fire on officers. SWAT and others are called in. The suspect is shot and now is recovering at a Fort Wayne hospital. They say he had a warrant out for his arrest…on meth related charges.
