Crash Claims Area Man

A Bryan man dies Saturday afternoon in a crash in Defiance County. Officials say Kolbe Roose, 25, was southbound on The Bend Road, in Delaware Township. Officials tell reporters Roose failed to yield at a stop sign and continued across County Road 424…where his vehicle is hit by an eastbound tractor-trailer, driven by John Rethmel, of Defiance. Both vehicles continued off the southeast corner of the intersection, hitting a ditch and coming to rest in a field. Roose was pronounced dead at the scene. Rethmel was treated and released. The coroner’s office has been called into the investigation. The case continues.
