A trial date has been set for a Ney man accused of killing his grandfather, who lived in Bryan. The court in Defiance County has scheduled the trial of Dustin Vogelsong, for May 23. We reported…on the afternoon of May 1, 2020, deputies were dispatched to Vogelsong’s home, on Behnfeldt Road, between Bryan and Sherwood, after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance between Vogelsong and the mother of his two children. Officers soon discovered the body of Vogelsong’s grandfather, Larry Vogelsong, who had suffered head trauma. Prosecutors say the suspect used a shovel in the killing. Vogelsong’s ex-wife…along the wife the deceased were also hurt. A pet cat was killed. The suspect fled the scene with two children in a vehicle he stole from his grandfather. He was apprehended later that night at a gas station near the Ohio Turnpike when a Williams County sheriff’s deputy recognized his vehicle. Murder charges and more in the case.
