The City of Bryan will seek a renewal of its 1/2% income tax in the May 3 primary election ballot. The tax has been in place for 38 years and renewed every nine and a half years. It pays for debt service and improvements to the city’s streets and sewer systems. City officials say the tax generated $1.9 million dollars, last year. Renewal would continue collection of the tax for another nine and a half years. Otherwise, it will expire in June 2023.
