Weather Affects Area School Schedules

Schedules at area schools are all messed up following all the cold weather and snow so far this winter.

The Edon Board of Education met Tuesday, and decided the the district needed to make changes to its calendar, moving the end of the second semester back a week and adding two make-up days, which will most likely mean school on Presidents Day and possibly one more day in May.

The Montpelier Exempted Village Board of Education also met Tuesday, and board members heard from Superintendent Jamison Grime, who told the board that nine days of school have been missed so far this year. The state allows three days as “blizzard bag” days in which students can do work online to make them up. The school has used all its blizzard bag days and still must make up one more day… that is if no more days are missed. No decision on just when that extra day will be shoehorned back into the calendar yet.
