The winter blast is intense, and it shows no signs of letting up anytime soon.
From the National Weather Service of northern Indiana early this morning, just after 3:30, we received this update..
– A Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 10 a.m. today until 4 p.m. Saturday.
– A Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect until 1 p.m. today.
An arctic airmass moving across the Midwest combined with brisk winds will result in wind chills of 15 below to 25 below in our area this morning. A strong cold front will dive south from Canada today and move across our area late tonight and early Saturday. Strong southwest winds will develop today in advance of this front… causing areas of blowing and drifting snow. Snow will overspread the area from the northwest tonight. Snow will end over most of the area Saturday morning… however lake effect snow is expected to continue Saturday afternoon over northern portions of the area. Total accumulations of new snow by Saturday night are expected to be 2 to 4 inches… with amounts a little higher over southwest Michigan.
