Williams County Board of Health exploring funding options.

After the health department’s levy failed in November, Health Commissioner Jim Watkins and the board of health are exploring other avenues to fund the Williams County Health Department’s proposed new Bryan location. The health department has been operating out of two buildings, one in Montpelier and one in Bryan, which they have said makes daily operations difficult. Watkins secured $1 million in federal dollars to construct a new building under which operations would be consolidated, but additional funding is needed to make the project happen or else that funding will be lost. During Tuesday’s board of health meeting, the department paid off the last bill for architectural plans drawn up for a new building that may no longer happen.
