New state program to promote private housing development discussed by the Defiance County CIC.

A new state program to promote private housing development was discussed by the Defiance County Community Improvement Corporation’s governing board during its recent monthly meeting. Residential economic development district grants, ranging from $250,000 to $2.5 million, are proposed through the Ohio Department of Development. The program’s purpose is to promote housing development by providing funding assistance for infrastructure projects within residential development districts defined by the state. Such districts are to include areas “within 20 miles of a major economic development project” as defined in the Ohio Revised Code.
