During their regular meeting this week, commissioners from Defiance County and Paulding County shared concerns about the sewer system. The operation of a sewer system that serves people and businesses along and near the Auglaize River, south of Defiance, and in the Five Span area was reviewed by commissioners from both counties. Preventing clean water infiltration into the sewage collection system that transports wastewater to the treatment lagoon owned by Defiance County along State Route111, which is located just north of the Paulding County boundary, is one problem. The cost of treating wastewater is increased by clean water intrusion.
