Gorilla passes away from severe cardiac disease at Toledo Zoo.

Johari, a 38-year-old western lowland gorilla, passed away from severe cardiac disease, according to the Toledo Zoo.  Since her diagnosis last year, the gorilla, known to her keepers as Jo, has been under medical observation.  Veterinary staff treated her condition with medication and cardiac ultrasounds, according to a statement released by the zoo on Thursday. However, experts concluded this week that her comfort could no longer be maintained as the heart failure worsened.
