Long-term acute care hospital in south Toledo to close May 1st.

A letter sent to the state last week states that a long-term acute care hospital in south Toledo will close on May 1 and fire every employee on June 8. The letter states that the decision to terminate CommuniCare Health Services’ Advanced Specialty Hospital of Toledo is “part of a recent transaction.” As part of the closure, 116 workers will be let off, including 12 respiratory therapists, 12 certified nurse assistants, and 45 registered nurses. The layoffs only affect non-union workers, and they will not be eligible for bumping privileges.
