Bryan Board Of Public Affairs Contracts For Repairs

The Bryan Board of Public Affairs has approved a contract with Sulzer Turbo Services Houston, Inc, for repairs to the Bryan Power Plant’s No. 2 gas turbine at a cost of almost one million dollars.

The contract, worth $911,225, will make repairs to the turbine which, according to city officials, has sustained nicks and cracks likely caused by rain, dust and other debris entering through the air intake system over the years.

According to the Bryan Times, without repair, the turbine’s condition could get much worse and cost the city a lot more in the long run.

Other items covered at Tuesday’ board meeting included the authorization of advertising for bids for a water main and sanitary sewer extension which Bryan City Council approved at its last meeting. Yesterday’s meeting also included final year-end reports from the utilities’ department heads.
