Murder Charges Dropped In Reliford Case

Charges of mur­der and felo­nious assault that had been lev­eled against an Edger­ton man, accused of beat­ing a 3-year-old Colum­bus girl to death, have been dropped. Police in Colum­bus how­ever, are quick to point out that the inves­ti­ga­tion into the case against 24 year old Tyson Reli­ford is still mov­ing for­ward, even though the two most seri­ous charges were dropped Thurs­day in Franklin County Court. Pros­e­cu­tors say the charges were dropped due to con­cerns about some addi­tional things that needed fol­low up. Now, in addi­tion to Reli­ford, the child’s moth­eris also being inves­ti­gated as a pos­si­ble sus­pect in the beat­ing death in Feb­ru­ary of lit­tle Aiyanna Thomp­son. Reli­ford was being held in the Franklin County Cor­rec­tions Cen­ter on one mil­lion dol­lars bond, but as of yes­ter­day, he was no longer listed as an inmate there, accord­ing to the Bryan Times. Inves­ti­ga­tors say that new charges could be filed however.
