CANDIDATES MEET FILING DEADLINE

Many candidates locally met Monday’s filing deadline for Independents seeking office in the November election.

In Henry County, two incumbent Republicans (Travis Sheaffer and Jim Hershberger) have chosen to run as Independents for Napoleon City Council. Challenger Heather Wilson also filed as an Independent and Republican write-in John Tassler has also filed. Two other candidates met an earlier deadline in February.

Six people are now seeking the four Napoleon City Council seats up for grabs in November.

In Defiance County, Independent incumbent Hicksville Village Councilman Ron Beverly filed for reelection before Monday’s deadline for Independents passed. That means Beverly will now join incumbent Republicans Michael Barth, Michael Headley and Ron Jones on the ballot in November.

In Putnam County, seven Independents filed for two village council races in Leipsic and Columbus Grove.
