NO SIDEWALK CHALK ALLOWED IN DEFIANCE

It’s entirely constitutional… That’s how Defiance Law Director David Williams portrayed Defiance’s sidewalk ordinance at Tuesday night’s Defiance City Council Meeting.

Williams told council that the city’s ordinance prohibiting “painting” on sidewalks is “entirely constitutional,” and indicated that the word “painting” is a verb referring to the act of inscribing something on a sidewalk.

It all follows a question raised by several Defiance residents at last week’s council meeting about using chalk on sidewalks. They were told to stop it last October by the city police department.
