Sentence Reduction Denied

In DeKalb County, Circuit Court Judge Kirk Carpenter has denied a petition from a convicted murderer who had been seeking a modification of his 50 year prison sentence. Judge Carpenter issued his ruling late last week in the case of Thomas Sexton, who pleaded guilty in 1996 to murdering a co-worker… George Harmes of Angola at the Auburn Dana plant. Sexton has been trying to get his sentence reduced or modified for almost three years, but the county prosecutors office has filed numerous objections during that same time period, including a motion to strike the defendant’s petition to modify the sentence in August.
