Arthur L. Hug, 72

Arthur L. Hug, age 72, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 7:18 P.M. on Sunday, December 13, 2015, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he was a patient. A lifelong resident of Edgerton and a veteran of the United States Air Force, Mr. Hug was a 1960 graduate of Edgerton High School and worked as a machinist for many years, retiring from Oren Elliott Products in Edgerton. He formerly served on the Edgerton Fire Department and was one of the founding members of Squad 38 of the Edgerton Emergency Medical Service. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, was a member of the choir and was a longtime song leader for Masses and funerals. He was also a member of John D. Smith Post #10 of the American Legion, of which he was a past commander and member of the Firing Squad.

Arthur L. Hug was born on December 22, 1942, in Edgerton, Ohio, the son of Alfred C. and Idris L. (Kissinger) Hug. He married Kathleen P. Smith on April 16, 1966, in Edgerton, Ohio, and she survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Michelle Hug, of Morris Plains, New Jersey, and Catrina (Daniel) Schwyn, of Aurora, Ohio; one son, Sean (Jackie)Hug, of Bay City, Michigan, and five grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Rosalie Thiel, of Blakeslee, Ohio, two brothers, Richard (Carolyn) Hug, of Portland, Indiana, and Neal (Cathy) Hug, of Edgerton. Preceding him in death were his parents and four brothers, Clarence, Robert, Duane and Donald Hug.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December, 16, 2015, from 4:00-7:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with a scripture service to follow at 7:30 P.M. Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, December 17, 2015, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Edgerton, with Reverend Daniel Borgelt officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with graves side military rites conducted by John D. Smith Post #10 and the United States Air Force military honor guard.
