Algotoxins being monitored in Maumee River

Another test on the Maumee River will be made tomorrow, as the General Health District monitors an algae bloom. The recreational public health advisory remains in effect. The Ohio EPA detected elevated levels of algotoxins in the river at several locations near Defiance on June 2nd. The numbers are going down in subsequent testing. The Health District said swimming and wading in the water is not recommended for children, pregnant or nursing women, people with certain medical conditions and pets. Signs are posted.
