Bryan City Council poised to limit the sale and cultivation of adult use cannabis within the city limits.

Rather than banning the sale and cultivation of adult use cannabis within the city limits, Bryan City Council seems poised to limit those actions. Council previously had two ordinances it was considering that would have banned the sale and cultivation of adult, recreational use marijuana, which was approved earlier this month by voters around the state. After some discussion, some members of council stated they didn’t want to go against the wish of voters completely. The new ordinance, which will be considered by council during a special meeting in Bryan council chambers, would limit the number of adult use cannabis operators, adult use cultivators or adult use dispensaries to no more than two in the city. In addition, the ordinance would limit adult use cannabis operators, cultivators or dispensaries only to a few zoning districts within Bryan. Growing cannabis will be prohibited on city-owned property, and all smoking bans, limitations and regulations associated with tobacco will apply to the smoking or vaping of marijuana.
