The Bryan City School District has new orchestra and band teachers for the upcoming school year. Officials say…an interview committee was formed featuring music personnel from past and present as well as some upperclassman for interviews for both the band and orchestra teacher. The district has been without a proper, full-time orchestra teacher since Brandon Gordon resigned amid criminal charges in Georgia on May 1. Since then, the district has had several volunteers step up to keep the orchestra program running smoothly and not miss any planned concerts. On Monday, the board approved hiring Nicholas Simul as the orchestra teacher for grades five through 12 and as the pit orchestra and orchestra director starting in the fall.
