BRYAN MADE A FEW BUCKS ON ENERGY

On Thursday, Brian Carlin, the Utilities Director at Bryan Municipal Utilities, told Board of Public Affairs members the recent winter storm actually made some money for the city utility.

According to the Bryan Times, the city’s electric usage was expected to be higher than usual because of the extreme cold.

But, because so many businesses and industries were shut down Monday and Tuesday, the extra power generated by the city was able to be sold on the open market — where prices are currently very high.
