Defiance’s Multi-Area Narcotics Unit has a new director

Defiance’s Multi-Area Narcotics (MAN) Unit has a new director. Lt. Max Nofziger of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office has taken over for Doug Engel, the Defiance County Sheriff Office’s chief deputy. Engel is running as the Republican candidate for sheriff this fall, facing write-in Steve Flory, a former sheriff’s deputy, in the general election. Nofziger recently was selected as MAN Unit director by a controlling board made up of the sheriffs and police chiefs from the 10 participating members. The unit is overseen by the Defiance County sheriff.
