A tragic accident yesterday afternoon in Wood County killed a driver and sent the vehicle’s passenger to the hospital. 57-year-old Almeda Couture of Toledo died when a tree fell on her SUV that was traveling south on Tontogany Creek Road. The vehicle careened off the roadway, striking a mailbox and a utility pole. Couture was pronounced dead at the scene while a passenger was transported to Wood County Hospital with non-life threatening-injuries. The incident is still under investigation.
