Incumbent Republican, Rob McColley of Napoleon defeats Democrat, Adam Papin, of Bryan for the 1st Senate District. At last check, McColley held a commanding 73-27 percent margin of victory. In Williams County, McColley’s margin was similar. He has been serving in the 1st Senate District since December 2017, when he was chosen by the GOP legislative caucus to take over for former state Sen. Cliff Hite, who resigned in October 2017 after a sexual harassment complaint.
