Bryan Municipal Utilities is celebrating Public Power Week, Oct. 6 — 12, along with more than 2,000 other community-owned electric utilities across the U.S. that provide electricity on a not-for-profit basis.
To celebrate Public Power Week, Bryan Municipal Utilities is inviting community members to attend an Open House at their Hydroelectric Plant, Thursday, October 10, from 1 to 7 p.m., located at 14268 Power Dam Road, just south of Defiance.
Visitors will be able to tour the hydro plant, learn how it generates power, and watch demonstrations of the floodgates operating. In addition, BMU will give away souvenir DVDs commemorating the plant’s centennial. Refreshments will be provided.
Bryan Municipal Utilities has served Bryan since 1892 and today has 43 employees and serves approximately 5,000 residential customers and 750 commercial and industrial customers. Learn more by visiting the utility web site: www.cityofbryan.net.
