The public is being cautioned by the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office about a phone scam in which victims are accused of missing jury duty and are instructed to bring cash to the jail to pay a fictitious fine. The sheriff’s office claims that the con artist poses as “Lt. Leach” and threatens to arrest anyone who signs documents, doesn’t show up, or doesn’t pay a cash fee. After that, victims are instructed to take out cash and deliver it to the Lucas County Jail, according to LCSO. According to the sheriff’s office, no one will ever be called to demand money or instructed to bring cash to the jail.
