A public registry for repeat domestic abusers is being considered by bipartisan politicians; supporters claim this might assist communities in identifying individuals with a history of abuse in a manner similar to how the state records sexual offenders.  Representatives introduced House Bill 846. Phil Plummer, a Republican from Dayton, and Cecil Thomas, a Democrat from Cincinnati, would establish the registry and assign its upkeep to the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation.
