Tours To Be Offered In “Haunted” Jail

Well now, this is kind of spooky. The former Paulding County jail will soon, according to plans laid out by it’s new owner, become a new historical attraction and paranormal research center. Shelly Burk Robertson of Indianapolis purchased the property for $15,000. Robertson grew up in Van Wert County. She says she has heard a lot of stories about the jail being haunted, and since she was looking for property for paranormal research, she thought it would be a perfect place. Robertson plans to offer tours of the jail, which opened in 1876 and was used until the new jail opened in 2007. Robertson said that a fee will be charged for the tours. All the money raised will go to restoration efforts for the building.
