Two Motorcyclists Strike Deer and Seriously Injured.

Montpelier The Defiance Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on October 4, 2023, at approximately 8:27 p.m. The crash occurred on County Road H near County Road 13 in Superior Township, Williams County

Daniel J. Andres, age 48, of Bryan, Ohio, was driving a 2014 EBR motorcycle, and Ryan M. Sprow, age 45, of Sherwood, Ohio was driving a 2008 Buell motorcycle. They were driving their motorcycles together westbound on County Road H west of County Road 13 when they both struck a deer than ran into the roadway. Both drivers then lost control of their motorcycles, and were ejected. 

Mr. Andres was flown from the scene by Samaratian Air ambulance to Parkview Regional Medical Center. Mr. Sprow was taken by Williams County EMS to Bryan Hospital, and then also flown to Parkview Regional Medical Center. Both motorcycle drivers sustained serious injuries

The Defiance Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Williams County Sheriff’s Office, Williams County EMS, Samaritan Medical Transport, and Bodyworks Towing. Failure to wear helmets is a suspected factor in the crash. No charges have been filed, and the crash remains under investigation

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminds motorcycle occupants to always wear a helmet, and reminds all drivers to be cautious of deer as we enter the fall season.
