Utility pole crash leads to charges

An OVI charge faces the man police say drove into a util­ity pole Sun­day evening that caused a power out­age. It hap­pened on Cleve­land Avenue near Ottawa Avenue. 22 year old Jose Alvarado of Napoleon was headed east when he lost con­trol of his car. The util­ity pole was snapped in two and Alvarado’s car caught fire. He was able to get out and the fire was extin­guished by emer­gency crews. Alvarado was taken to the hos­pi­tal for treatment.
