Wauseon Mayor Calls It Quits

The longtime Mayor of Wauseon, Doug Shaw, says he plans to retire in November.

Shaw made the announcement that he was stepping down during a Monday evening meeting of the Wauseon City Council.

Shaw’s current term of office began Jan. 1, 2012, and, had he stayed till the end of it, he would have been done on Dec. 31, 2015. Shaw said he plans to quit effective November 3rd.

Before he took the job as mayor, Shaw served on city council from 2002–2011, including a stint as council president from 2008-11.

No word yet on what the town’s plans are to replace the mayor.
