Williams County commissioners considering limiting access to covered bridge at the county fairgrounds due to vandalism.

The Williams County commissioners are considering limiting access to the covered bridge at the county fairgrounds due to vandalism issues. The commissioners met with Toby Fenicle, a Williams County Fair board member who provides maintenance at the fairgrounds. He says some of the problems include people breaking into buildings on the grounds and doing damage inside where the facility provides winter storage, and no suspects have been found so far. Vandals have also damaged the small white buildings used as ticket booths on the grounds. Somebody ripped down the signs that have been erected notifying people not to fish in the ponds, as well as stop signs. Fenicle proposes putting in a gate on the south side of the bridge that the fair board could control. He added the fair board realizes there are times the gate will need to be open to provide access, such as during the fair and Maple Syrup Days.
