Montpelier’s Main Street is back open

Main Street in Montpelier is back open. The final barriers were removed in the early afternoon and drivers showed their joy by honking horns in celebration. The paving was completed ahead of schedule, and the Bryan Times is reporting that project cost about $660,000 to repave the street, add sidewalk and 26 new sidewalk ramps. The final cost will be released once all the paper work is complete. The village used a $280,000 Community Development Block Grant to help offset the project’s cost.
