The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is unveiling a new proposal aimed at improving consumer access to nutrition information on packaged foods. The initiative calls for a front-of-package (FOP) nutrition label, which would provide consumers with quick, at-a-glance information about three key nutrients: saturated fat, sodium and added sugars. The proposed label, named the Nutrition Info box, would be prominently displayed on the front of food packages. It would feature clear, color-coded indicators showing whether a product is low, medium or high in the nutrients of concern.
