The Environmental Protection agency has sent a notice to Defiance County about E. coli testing in Platter Creek which is prompting a health department investigation. The EPA said a test of Platter Creek discovered “elevated” E. coli levels, and that the color of the water and odor suggest a nearby sewage problem. The letter said the problem appears to come from Mark Center and is a public health nuisance. The EPA gave commissioners 30 days to explain how the problem will be fixed.
