Update in the case of a Stryker man, charged with retaliation against an official.

A hearing to consider motions in the case of a Stryker man, charged with retaliation against an official is now set for Oct. 17. The hearing for Michael Hill, 39, will be at 1 p.m. in Williams County Common Pleas Court. Hill is accused of threatening retaliation against a Henry County judge, which is a third-degree felony. A three-day trial was previously set for Nov. 27. Hill’s defense filed a motion to exclude testimony from one of the state’s witnesses, stating its probative value is substantially outweighed by the danger of unfair prejudice. In the motion, the defense contends the witness only heard Hill say he was charged with threatening the retaliation, not that he actually threatened. Hill’s defense also filed a memo with the court, stating its intention to use the criminal convictions of a state witness and for them to be entered into evidence. On Sept. 25, a Victim’s Rights Request Form was filed with the court under Ohio’s Marsy’s Law.
